The Other Side:
Ten Years after the Referendum
Ten Designers Respond
Osh Gallery, Pentagram, London
2026
Originated and co-curated by GraphicDesign&
In 2020, GD& published The Other Side. In it, both ‘sides’ consider the losses and gains from the vote to leave the EU. Keen to mark the ten-year anniversary of the referendum, and to reexamine the messaging of the book, we gave ten designers ten unsold copies asking each to make a new work. The results, presented in an exhibition at Pentagram’s OSH Gallery, were as poignant as they were witty. Books were pulped then moulded into seating to prompt conversation; sculpted into post-party detritus; cut into strips to form a fragile curtain; caught on camera being fed into a shredder by an array of British PMs and fashioned into a gentleman’s suit.
A rare and creative look at how one of the most defining moments in modern British history continues to shape our cultural landscape.
